Abstract Gelli Plate Printing

Applying paint with a roller
X

Description

During this morning workshop you will learn the technique of gelli plate printing. Using a gelli plate (a firm gelatin surface which acts as the plate) you will learn how to apply acrylic paint using a roller, add textures impressed on to the surface, and then print onto paper. Different colours and combinations of textures can be used, and the prints evolve in layers. Gelli plate printing enables people to work quickly and freely – often in an abstract style. The morning will include demonstrations of different gelli plate techniques, an opportunity to gather inspiration from artists and printmakers, time to print in a supportive environment, and an opportunity to share images with feedback. Each student will leave with several mounted artworks.

Your tutor, Jess, has taught general art to a variety of groups including primary school children and vulnerable adults, and workshops alongside solo exhibitions. Having moved to the Lake District she now focuses mainly on abstract gelli plate prints, sometimes drawing on other specialisms such as oil painting, collage and drawing. She is currently working on a body of work combining these techniques inspired by the beauty of our landscape.

Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 4 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
