For absolute beginners (or if you haven't sewn for a while and need a refresher) This 4 week (2 hours per week) evening class covers the following:
Wk 1 - get familiar with the sewing machine, winding bobbins, threading, correct tension, and practice sewing straight and curved seams, and turning corners.
Wk 2 - Seams and hems. How to sew different seams and hems, and know which is most appropriate for the fabric and position on the garment.
Wk 3 - Buttons and zips. Make a machine stitched buttonhole, and insert a standard zip, such as used in skirts or for cushions
Wk 4 - Put your new-found skills into practice by making your choice of a tote bag, apron or other small item.
Taught by a degree-trained textile designer who's been sewing since age 7, and has studied bridalwear and couture techniques, and tailoring. Maximum 6 students for plenty one-to-one attention.
