A taste of Raku and Throwing
Description
The day is designed to combine the two most popular elements of Potterydayz courses and the well known television programme - "The Pottery Throwdown". These are Raku pottery firing and Throwing on the potters wheel. Although no experience is needed for the day a keen interest in the Craft is welcomed. This is only available for adults. The day begins with glazing instruction for the pots to be Raku fired. Whilst the glazes are drying on the pots a demonstration of wheel throwing will be given. Students on the course will then be supported over an approximate period of two hours whilst trying their hand at the craft. The afternoon is given over to the Firing process. It is hoped that each person will leave with two finished fired pots.
What's included in the price?
Included in the day are the pre made and- biscuit fired pots to glaze for the Raku firing, glazes and oxides, clay for throwing on the wheel. Students who successfully throw pots will be welcomed back at a later date, by arrangement to finish the best of these once they have been biscuit fired. This course will run with a minimum of 3 course bookings. The order of the day may change according to the weather. If the Raku part of the day needs to be postponed an alternative date will be offered or a credit note.
