Duration: One day
About the Course
Drawing is making a mark! Come and enjoy learning to turn those marks into recognisable images with professional artist and tutor, Linda Matthews, using a variety of subjects including landscape, figures, still life and buildings. Linda’s teaching is not step by step so she can tutor a group of mixed abilities, she will demonstrate a technique or subject, and you will then have a go. Her drawing techniques follow traditional rules which she believes you have to know before you break them!
The morning will be spent on drawing indoors from photographs and life, looking at tone, perspective and creating movement with your marks in graphite, charcoal and ink. The afternoon will be spent outdoors drawing the landscape including trees, water and structures, learning how to create layers and distance in monochrome.
About the Tutor:
Linda Matthews has worked as a full time artist and tutor for over 17 years - she divides her time between Norfolk and L’Herault in France. Inspired by everything around her, she prefers painting en plein air - out of doors, from life. Working professionally in most media she is not a 'paint- along' instructor; Linda will encourage you to gain confidence, using traditional techniques to develop your own style. A qualified tutor, Linda writes for Leisure Painter & has led courses for Artist & Illustrator Magazine she is a Professional Associate of the Society of all Artist’s. As well as her own workshops & holidays Linda leads courses at Flatford Mill & Epping Forest for the Field Studies Council.
