A mixed media concertina book at Cowshed Creative in the Lake District

Creative Applique Journals at Cowshed Creative

Check out our 2020 Cowshed Creative workshop programme on OUR website (purple tab above).

A great opportunity to experiment with mixed media techniques and create a concertina book based on memories, which can also be displayed as a wall piece.
Using layering techniques, with images and text, papers and fabrics, these will be fused together with wax. You will be able to embellish your work with embroidery, buttons, ribbons or lace. A lovely keepsake or gift; maybe for Easter or Mothers day.

You can bring photocopied images from your personal collection of photographs, postcards or letters or if you don’t have any, there will be plenty available on the day.

Christine Stanford is a professional textile artist. She trained in Embroidery at Manchester Metropolitan University and was a lecturer in textiles and fashion for
many years at Preston's College. Christine is passionate about recycling fabrics and memorabilia. She exhibits and sells her work nationally and has been involved in teaching a wide range of ages within schools and community projects, which she loves.

This workshop is at Cowshed Creative, based in a converted Cumbrian barn on a traditional Lakeland Farm. The art studio is a stunning open plan space with plenty of room to wander outside and take inspiration from the amazing Lakeland landscape and environment of the peaceful Kentmere Valley. Make it a special break and stay on the farm. Check out our website for availability.

All our tutors are carefully selected professionals and experts with extensive teaching experience. Whilst this is a relatively new venture, George, who has set up Cowshed Creative, has many years of experience programming and running creative courses at the Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal and for Cumbria Adult Education.
