Jewellery making 8 week course - evening and daytime courses available.
Beginners course - This course is suitable for beginners. Starting with using copper you will learn basic techniques such as how to anneal metal, filing, forming, cutting metal with a piercing saw, adding texture and soldering. You will also have the chance to make a stone set ring and silver and stones for this will be supplied along with lots of copper for practicing each technique.
This course is designed for people who have previously attended the 8 or 10 week beginners course or students with some prior knowledge and experience of basic jewellery making techniques. The scheme of work for this course is a lot more fluid than that of the beginners course meaning students will have time to work on their own designs and continue practicing making techniques. I will also include some other techniques not previously covered such as tube setting stones in a ring making project, etching metal to created textured jewellery and enamelled copper jewellery. Materials/copper for these projects are included in the course price with the exception of a stone for the setting project (silver to make a ring for the setting project included). Students will be responsible for supplying their own silver for any other projects they wish to undertake.
All course are taught by a fully qualified and experienced teacher. I am a jewellery lecturer at a North west college in addition to running courses at The Cheshire School of Jewellery. I have a PGCE (Professional graduate certificate in education), B.A Hon's Degree in Applied Art and also a M.A in Art Practice. I spent a number of years making beaded jewellery and have had designs published in several books and magazines. I also spent time studying silver clay jewellery and fashion design design.
