About the Course
Guided sessions on working with specialist millinery materials and a range of different millinery techniques. Learning how to master the skills of hand blocking, hand manipulation, determine proportions, trimmings and finishes of hats. Learning how to design and make hats using specialist equipment and hand sewing techniques
Learning from scratch you will cover:
Blocking different fabrics: Felt • Straw • Sinamay • Buckram
How to insert a Petersham ribbon
How to wire and manipulate fabrics
How to trim hats
How to finish hats
Make sinamay trimming • Attach a head fixing
This course will encourage you to develop your own style whilst learning different techniques for your creations. Using your individual flair and imagination and using a range of fabric and trimmings you will be shown the various techniques necessary to create stunning creations.
The course will run one day a week from 10.30am until 3.30pm. Half days can be arranged over 12 weeks.

What's included in the price?
All equipment and basic materials (eg wire, ribbons, stiffners) are included. Plus refreshments.
Other materials e.g straw, felt and trimmings are bought from me at approximately £20 per hat.
