Course Start DatesTuesday 10th November 2020
About the Course
Join us for this 3 day relaxed creative workshop to learn how to design and weave your own unique tweed. Traditional tweed has well and truly been brought up to date in recent years and is now very much in vogue. This is the perfect opportunity to either begin weaving or continue your journey. We will cover pattern planning, colour selection, dressing a loom, reading and weaving classic tweed patterns. All this will take place in a bright purpose built workshop with adjoining accommodation available at our historic property, Lanehead, complete with stunning views overlooking Coniston Water and the mountains.
Day 1 – focus on choosing a tweed pattern and planning a warp, selecting the right balance of colours.
Day 2 – by the end of the day your loom will be dressed and you will commence weaving
Day 3 - a full day of weaving and learning all the finishing techniques
Your fabric will be suitable for making cushions, bags, purses or your own sewing projects.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
What's included in the price?
The price for this relaxed creative workshop includes all materials, lunches, cakes and refreshments.
Our available accommodation is purely for Swallows & Artisans guests and families at our adjoining historic property, Lanehead. We offer super king size/twin family rooms with lake and mountain views on a B&B basis. You’re welcome to extend your stay if you would like to spend more time enjoying the Lake District.
Alternatively, if you require more space, we have Lake House, a 3 bedroom self catered holiday cottage, on the same site. If you would like to book or need any more information, please contact me rather than call the number on the website as I manage the S&A bookings separately.
