Repousse and chasing is the art of hammered into relief from the reverse side of sheet metal with the chasing of the detail on the front. This technique will be taught over two terms and will include demonstration and opportunity to create your own tools and hands-on instruction in chasing & repousse. The main focus of this workshop is the technique and working with specialist tools, hammers and pitch to create a three dimensional shape raised from the surface.
ALSO: LOOP IN LOOP CHAIN MAKING (Roman or foxtail chains) the fascinating ancient method of creating 2 and 3 dimensional chains.
Tutors are teaching these methods across all of the intermediate classes and that students can choose between doing the Repousse chasing or chain making or combining the two over 2 terms. If you wish to know about the course content please contact us via the form or phone number above.
