About the Course
Enjoy a relaxed, fun and informal day making stained glass sun-catchers, funky tea light holders or mobiles using the Tiffany foiling method.
You will be carefully taken through all the processes, helping you to develop the skills of glass cutting, grinding, foiling and soldering.
Each student will go home with some wonderful and individual pieces that they have created that day. Suitable for beginners and those with some experience.
I offer three very different types of stained glass workshop:
Tiffany Style/Copper Foil method
This refers to stained glass work in the style of Louis Comfort Tiffany where each piece of glass is wrapped in copper foil before being soldered together. This method is generally used for making gifts and smaller pieces such as sun-catchers.
Traditional Lead - Panels or Stained Glass Windows
In these classes we use the centuries old method which has hardly changed since the 12th century. A panel or window consists of pieces of coloured glass held together strips of lead came which is then soldered at the joins and finally cemented to create a weatherproof window.
Stained Glass Mosaics
This is the process of creating a design or pattern using small pieces of stained glass adhered to either a mirror, glass sheet, vase or wooden shape.

Fantastic day. Gigha is a very relaxed tutor, and imparts her knowledge quietly and creatively. She worked very hard to give us a special experience. We had a wonderful selection of choices of bases to mosaic and a glass sweet shop of colours, shapes, and variety from which to choose. She also produced a delicious sit down lunch. The day was run in a caring and thoughtful way. I will definitely be on another course soon. I am absolutely thrilled with the mosaic I made, and my husband is very impressed with my results.

This is my second stained glass course and like the first time, I had a wonderful day and came back with some lovely creations. Gigha holds a relaxed informative class and offers good advice and assistance when required. The equipment and choice of products to enhance your creation are superb. I had a fantastic time and will be back again, this time with my husband who desperately wants to try it. Lunch included what else could you ask for.

I’ve now been to many of Ghia’s courses, both Tiffany method copper foil & glass mosaic. I’m now completely & utterly hooked to glass thanks to Ghia's excellent teaching. The groups have a good mix of people & it’s always a friendly atmosphere & excellent lunch provided.
I have a tendency to arrive at the workshops with big ideas but limited know-how, but Ghia goes out of her way, above & beyond, to help you create your masterpiece. She is very enthusiastic & has a real love & knowledge of the subject. She is also generous in providing further advice & support in being able to buy correct/best equipment to carry on creating on your own away from her workshops.
I cannot recommend Ghia’s workshops enough! Give them a go & you’ll soon be hooked too.

Mosaics was my first course. It was a lovely day with a very relaxed atmosphere....until I realised I had been over ambitious with my design and had to work faster.
There was plenty of materials to choose from and top quality tools.
I took home a beautiful mosaic on mirror.
Oh, and we had a really great lunch too!
I'm looking forward to my second course which is already booked.

I have just attended the valentines stained glass workshop. As a complete novice I was a bit nervous but had a blast, I feel I am now totally hooked. I couldn't have asked for a better teacher, Gigha was amazing showing us step by step and very patient going over things. Everyone on the workshop was very friendIy and we all, made lovely glass items which we could take home. Can't wait to go to my next workshop with Gigha. I would highly recommend this workshop. I’ve now done a few of Gigha’s workshops and can say that each one has been great fun. I’ve learnt a lot and started off as a complete novice. Gigha is very patient and an easy going tutor. She is there if you need one to one help but for those who have been before she lets you go and do your own thing. A very well organised workshop, lunch, coffee and sweet treats are very nice as well!

I went to one of the Christmas workshops and what an amazing, fun and creative day it was. Highly recommended. It’s no worry if you have no clue, Gigha takes you through the processes step by step making it so easy to produce something beautiful. I am really proud of what I created and even my husband said they were good, and it takes a lot to get a comment from him usually.

Really loved this course. Very friendly & relaxed atmosphere. Gigha is an excellent teacher & was on hand all the time to help if needed. I was really happy with what I managed to create on the day & have already booked my next course. Thank you Gigha, can't wait for the next one! Would highly recommend for everyone.

I was a complete novice to working with glass and I loved every minute. Learning about cutting glass, foiling, soldering and creating a gorgeous piece to take home. Gigha is friendly and so knowledgeable. Great teacher and lovely relaxed atmosphere. Looking forward to the next one. 100% recommended.

I had a wonderful day, learnt so much and gained some new skills. Excellent that there was support there when needed after the first demo. Got on with stuff and guidance and every important step of the way. Then left to it. I could have stayed a lot longer and made much much more. Will most definitely be booking another one. Thank you Gigha

My friend and I had a ball. A thoroughly enjoyable day. We came home with several excellent Xmas Decorations. Gigha was exceeding good. Her demonstrations were clear and she was happy to demonstrate again or to help out, but left you alone to get on with it. I can thoroughly recommend to anyone like me who isn't particularly crafty or to people who have a greater knowledge. The equipment and resources were plentiful. On top of that we had an excellent simple lunch with Jacket Potatoes and Salad and a few nibbles with plenty of tea and coffee and biscuits available at all times. I shall book another course shortly. Thank you very much. Marylyn

Totally recommend this course. I'm not great at craft work, but Gigha is a patient, wonderful teacher encouraging you to be ambitious and creative and do as much as you can yourself but stepping in when things look like they need rescuing! Lovely to be able to produce the whole thing from initial drawing (taking inspiration from all the beautiful things Gigha has made) to final touches with a bit of help! Came home with a beautiful tea light holder. Thanks Gigha x
Jo Moser - - #11279
Such a well taught class. Very clear demonstrations and instructions as we went along. Extremely wide range of mayon offer to use and to top it all a filling freshly cooked lunch. Can't wait to attend again
Catherine Revell - - #10088
Very well organised with lots of materials available to use. Each step was clearly demonstrated and if you were still uncertain Gihga helped you through. Gihga clearly explained how to use the equipment safely and kept a watchful eye on us without interfering. It was a lovely day - every one pitched in and the lunch was very good. You don't have to be an expert, just relax and have fun.

This day course was an absolute joy. I gave this course to my mum for her 70th birthday and we both enjoyed it immensely. Gigha was an excellent teacher and very patient and we came away with beautiful pieces tealight holders. We will be back

I am so happy to leave a review for you Ghia. I went to one of your Christmas workshops in Bideford last year and just had the best day ever. I would never have believed I could make three angels and a decorated tree to hang on my own Christmas tree. I look forward to taking another class so I can increase my collection of angels.
Laura Williams - - #9466
I did a bunting and mobile course and it was amazing and I’m now completely hooked.
Gigha was a great teacher and was so patient and made everything anyone wanted to do possible. She showed us all the different techniques well but was more than happy to go over them again on a more one-to-one basis if needed.
I was so happy with what I produced on the day and that was all down to Gigha.
I would really highly recommend any of her classes and I really look forward to doing another course in the future.
Kat Hill - - #9442

I attended the 'Funky Tea Light Holder' in March. Thoroughly enjoyed the day, lovely relaxed atmosphere with good instruction. Great start to learning more about this glass craft, and came away with a fairly acceptable tea light holder. Look forward to attending another one in the future.

We thoroughly enjoyed the day, the company and the lovely lunch. It was excellent value. I can't tell you how pleased I was with my lightcatcher which now has pride of place in the lounge window. We'll be back. Sarah & Debbie
