About the Course

Beginners – China Mosaic Workshop

Over 5 hours you will create your own ‘square heart’ plaque, pot stand or similar using broken china, mosaic tiles and reclaimed materials.
The workshop will go through
• which surfaces are best to mosaic upon
• Discover the challenges working with recycled materials and how to overcome them
• tools needed
• grouting demonstration

Included in the course is everything you need for the project including a 15cm square MDF base, or similar sized shape, china, glue, other reclaimed materials and the use of our tools. Participants are welcome to bring their own china or embellishments to use if they so wish, it’s always nice to include something personal.

The mosaic glue has to be allowed to dry for 24 hours before grouting so there will be a demonstration at the end of the workshop of how to grout your piece and you will be given a bag of powdered grout along with instructions to take home to finish your artwork. Alternatively you can pay an extra charge and have your mosaic grouted and finished for you, you can decide on the day.

This workshop will be run in small groups and is intended for beginners and those who want to try using china to mosaic. There is no need to worry about how artistic you are the most important thing is to relax and have fun whilst learning something new.

Please arrive for 9.45 for a prompt 10.00 start

This workshop is run out of the lovely Cleve Lodge in Long Eaton, close to junction 25 of the M1 and has plenty of on site free parking

Response from Blue Jelly Moon:

Thank you so much, we're really glad you enjoyed your time with us.

We had such a fun morning and we were all delighted with the results. I consider myself without any creative genes but was happy with my first attempt at a mosaic heart. Di and Pat were great teachers and very patient!
