Pottery throwing courses are great fun as you get to work on a pottery wheel. The basic concept is that the wheel spins while you learn to squeeze and gently shape your hollowed out vessel, keeping your pot shape consistent and removing excess clay. Learning to throw pots is immensely satisfying and a great way to spend a day or weekend.
