One Day Tapestry Weaving Workshops with Katie Russell
On this beginners' workshop we will explore warping up and exploring plain colours, creating shape and pattern.
The day usually lasts from 10.30 – 3.30 but times and days are flexible (weekdays as well as weekends are possible).
For the more experienced weavers we can explore blending colours and using different types of yarn.
I can provide workshops for individuals or for small groups – 5 max
I am tapestry weaver who focuses on using natural fibres and I take my inspiration
from the landscape around me, architecture and history. My loom is an upright
scaffold loom which gives a lot of freedom when weaving. Photography is a key element to my research for projects.
Last year I was awarded the Theo Moorman Trust for Weavers Award, SW Craft Makers Award and an Arts Trust Scotland Award. I have had my weavings exhibited in a range of galleries and shops.
I am a member of the British Tapestry Group, Creative Scotland and the Spinners, Weavers, Dyers Guild.
